Shadow™ Chrome Blackout Coating

Dupli-Color® Shadow® Chrome Black-Out Coating is a two-can system that creates the popular look of black chrome on polished metal or chrome surfaces for cars, trucks and motorcycles. The system includes a translucent, black basecoat that casts a dark shadow effect. The clear topcoat is for added gloss, depth and protection from the elements. Shadow is resistant to brake dust, road abrasion, chipping and fading, making it ideal for chrome wheels, bumpers, interior/exterior trim, accessories and under hood components.

How To Use

  • Usage
    Chrome and polished aluminum wheels, trim and accessories
  • Prep
    Prepare surface by removing loose paint, dirt, rust, grease, wax, etc. Use grease and wax remover or Dupli-Color® Prep Spray PS100 to clean surface. Lightly sand surface with 600 grit sandpaper, wet or dry. Wipe surface down again with Dupli-Color® Prep Spray PS100
  • Application
    Shake can vigorously for one full minute after mixing ball moves freely, and 10 seconds after each minute of use. If bare metal is exposed, apply Dupli-Color® primer first. To spray, hold can parallel and 8-10 inches from the surface to be painted and use in an even, sweeping motion. Apply 3 light coats, followed by one medium wet coat. Apply all coats within 1 hour, allowing 10 minutes between each coat. For additional coats after 1 hour, wait 7 days for paint to cure. Dries to the touch in 30 minutes, and can be handled in 1 hour. Apply Dupli-Color® Gloss or Matte Clear Coat for added protection. Covers approximately 12–14 square feet.
