Multi-Purpose Self-Etching Primer

Dupli-Color® Self-Etching Primer etches and primes bare metal in one step, making it ideal to use as the first step in all automotive priming projects and for use on spot repairs. A high-quality formulation allows for maximum adhesion under all types of automotive finishes on plastics, fiberglass, bare steel, aluminum and stainless steel surfaces.

How To Use

  • Usage
    Bare metals and aluminum
  • Prep
    Prepare surface by removing loose paint, dirt, rust, grease, wax etc. For best results use a grease and wax remover to clean the surface. Scuff/sand surface with 320-grit sandpaper. Wipe surface down again with grease and wax remover. Then let dry.
  • Application
    To spray, hold can parallel and 8-10 inches from surface and use in an even, sweeping motion. Apply 2 to 3 thin coats, allowing etching filler to dry 2 minutes between coats. Repeat until area is built up. After final coat, allow self-etching primer to dry 30 minutes before sanding with 400-grit sandpaper or applying the topcoat. Can be handled in 1 hour. Covers approximately 12–14 square feet. After each use, invert can and spray until clear gas comes out.
  • Clean Up Disposal
    Use regionally compliant cleaner for cleaning purposes
