Paint Crew
  • Chase Bennett - Winchester, KY
Returning Member of the 2014 PaintCrew

Hello everyone! My name is Chase Bennett and I had the opportunity to participate last year as a member of the 2014 Dupli-Color PaintCrew. Last year I started work on my 1977 4-Door Ford Maverick - a ground-up restoration. I used Dupli-Color rattle can black for underhood, and engine enamel products for the motor, air cleaner, etc. Like all my vehicles, I used Truck Bed Coating underneath where water or salt may hit.

This year, I’ll be working on my 1986 Dodge D100 and starting another ground-up restoration - this time on my 1977 2-Door Ford Maverick.

I’m really looking forward to getting going so be sure to check out how I’m doing by clicking here.

  • Ryan Largo - Wadsworth, IL
Returning Member of the 2014 PaintCrew

Hello everyone! I’m Ryan Largo and I’m a returning member of the 2014 Dupli-Color PaintCrew. Last year, I got to work on my 1981 Yamaha xs400 - Heavily modified frame, internally lowered fork, Unity spotlight, custom tank, 1936 Ford spare tire rear fender, hd rear shocks and lots of other modifications. Everything except parts of the tank was completed by myself, in my garage with a LOT of Dupli-Color. I’ve been riding this a lot for the past few years and it's been a lot of fun - I'm super proud of it! It was a really rusty relic when I dragged it home but learned how to repair the motor and get it running. I also repainted the entire bike and did all the body work as well.

This year, I’m going to tackle two projects: a 1965 Yamaha Virago and a BSA Bobber. So follow my progress by clicking here.

  • Summer Rakdham - Port Wentworth, GA
Returning Member of the 2014 PaintCrew

Hello fellow Dupli-Color Fans! My name is Summer Rakdham and I was a member of the 2014 Dupli-Color PaintCrew - I had a blast doing a bunch really cool projects. One project was a 2002 VW Beetle that I re-painted using used Sandable Primer and Mirage. I painted the interior bits with the Black Effex glitter paint and also used Custom Wrap to do the roof and hood. I also lowered the Bug and added Corvette wheels, intake, APR software, Forge DP and straight pipe. Valance replacements all painted black (each, as in, every time I had to replace one), yellow lamin-x’d fogs. It turned out pretty sweet.

A little about me: I like naps, European cars (VAG especially), cats, sweets, taking photos of stuff, meteorology and my superawesomeamazing husband… and cheeseburgers.

This year I have special plans for my 2009 Audi A3… so check out how I’m doing by clicking here.

  • Ryan Bisarra - Apollo Beach, FL

Hello everyone! My name is Ryan Bizarre and in a few months I will have been in the Air Force for 18 years. I’m originally from Waipahu, Hawaii and I’m currently stationed at MacDill Air Force Base. I like to tinker with vehicles and my projects include a 1978 Ford crew cab 4x4 and a 1985 Toyota 4Runner which has been modded a little.

  • Stephanie & Michael Godkin - Castle Rock, CO

Hello everyone! We are Michael and Stephanie Godkin, a husband and wife team residing in the beautiful state of Colorado. We have two very active dogs and a wonderful house full of projects!!!

We are currently working on a 1965 Chevrolet Impala that we rescued out of a teachers backyard last July. It’s got the usual rust damage that we are working through, leaving us with much sanding and painting. We are also building a 1973 Ironhead Rigid Sportster that is bare metal from top to bottom. Being selected for the 2015 Dupli-Color PaintCrew could not have come at a better time with all of the painting we are needing to do in the near future - we’re so excited to get going!!!

  • Bryan Hemphill - Cedar Rapids, IA

Hello everyone! My name is Bryan Hemphill and I’m very excited to have been selected for the Dupli-Color PaintCrew. I took an interest in restoring older vehicles and started my first one approximately 30 years ago - a 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner. I did the basics on it to make it look good and turned it around but that was the first. After that, most of the vehicles I restored were older Mustangs. My latest was a tubbed out, pro-street, 1966 Mustang. I went all the way with this one taking apart every part possible. I replaced all of the rubbers, fixed and or replaced quarters, brake system, fuel cell, personally painted, etc. This was the most challenging vehicle that took me to unexplored territories that I had not been to before. The pro-street is a breed all in itself.

I told myself a long time ago that I would try anything and would do my best. I have not been through any auto body schooling - I've learned it all on my own through research and personal training. I’m proud that professionals have told me how good my vehicles look and that they’re impressed with the amount of effort I have put into these vehicles.

My newest project is a 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner - a vehicle that had been sitting around longer than the gentleman who sold it to me had led me to believe. The first night I had it home, my 3 year told granddaughter and her mother helped to clean the whole outside of the car because my granddaughter told me how dirty and “yucky" the car looked. After looking at it more closely, I decided to take every last piece apart to make sure it is perfect when I am complete with the project.

So that’s what I’ll be working on for the foreseeable future… you can check out the progress I’m making by clicking here.

  • Branden Kilian - Leander, TX

Hello Dupli-Color Fans! My name is Branden Kilian and I am a technician for a Ford dealer and work on mostly internal engine and performance - not much of a paint and body guy but will try anything once.

I’ll be working on a 1980 Pontiac Firebird - I’ve got some pretty good ideas for the paint and just about have it to bare metal. I also have my wife’s 2014 Dodge Charger - she wants to black it out - and a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado that I'm thinking messing with as well.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can do with Dupli-Color this year so check out my progress by clicking here.

  • Russ Pressley - Eagle Mountain, UT

Hello everyone! My name is Russ Pressley and I'm a 39 year old firefighter paramedic - which means I'm really good at taking vehicles apart quickly and I can do it with only one tool (the Jaws of Life). Seriously though I have no formal automotive training. My father taught me the basics when I was a kid - tune ups and minor mechanical repairs. I've rebuilt two V6 ford ranger engines. I read a lot of magazines, online blogs and how to's, and shop manuals.

I've never had the opportunity to do any body or paint work except for airbrushing models as a kid - does that count? I'm very excited to try it - I've looked at Dupli-Color’s product list and have developed a lot of ideas for my 1967 Ford Mustang.

  • Craig Parr - Albuquerque, NM

Hello everyone! My name is Craig Parr and I am a DM for a group of stores here in New Mexico. I am an avid car guy who holds customizing classes in my garage, and I am working with a producer on a possible show. We wanted to put together a show that details the regular guy, and how he does his car without the high cost of outside shops - truly focusing on the guy who does the work in the garage himself.

My current project car is a 1974 Nova that is being completely customized. I have skinned the front fenders in fiberglass, changed the rear end to a 70 Camaro, smoothed the bumpers, narrowed and cut the rear one, and will be building a twin turbo 383 stroked motor. Over the past few years doing this project I am learning every aspect of custom car building and what it entails. Like most of you some days I sit back and scratch my head.

My other projects include a 1983 Ford Mustang, a 1967 Ford Fairlane, and 1974 Chevrolet Nova.

So click here to check out the progress I’m making on all my projects.

  • Cody Rieker - Lancaster, PA

Hello everyone! My name is Cody Rieker and I'm a current college student studying history and a former tool and die maker. I started working on cars and motorcycles with my dad when I was younger and it turned in to a pretty large hobby. My favorite thing to do is fabrication and body work.

My projects consist of a 1975 Chevrolet C10 step side that I've had for about a year - I'm returning it mostly to stock but giving it a few retro custom touches.

Looking forward to bringing the C10 back to life with Duple-Color… check out how I’m doing by clicking here.

  • Shawn Smith - Kathleen, GA

Hello Dupli-Color fans! I’m Shawn Smith and I'm an Aircraft Mechanic working for a major military contractor for over 25 years. My “garage skills" include custom design, fabrication, modification and restoration. I usually build one custom vehicle per year and somehow someone always has to have it worse than me. I have great attention to detail. Everything has to be rugged, function well, while looking sweet. I like military vehicles and have a style that works well with them.

    If all goes well, my projects will include a 1983 Jeep Cherokee, a 1979 Chevrolet M1028 1-Ton 4X4, a 2013 Volkswagen Passat, a 2008 Ford E-150, and a 1979 Chevrolet M1028 CUCV.

Click here and follow the progress on my projects as part of the 2015 PaintCrew.
